I keep this simple on purpose: I hate reading privacy policies as much as you do. Here is everything, in plain language.
What I collect
When you sign up on this site, I collect your email address and, if you give it, your first name.
The site also counts visits, and two tools do that. One belongs to the company that sends my emails: it saves a small file in your browser, records which pages you open, and checks your IP address to see roughly which country you're in. That's also how it knows you've signed up. The other is a plain visitor counter — it saves nothing and can't tell one visitor from another.
No ad networks. Nothing sold to anyone.
Why I collect it
To send you the free download you asked for, and — if you don't opt out — the occasional letter when a new story or film is ready. Nothing else. I don't have anything else to sell you yet, and I won't pretend otherwise.
Who sees it
Just me. To actually run this, I use a few outside tools that touch your data in narrow, specific ways:
- An email marketing platform — stores your email and name, sends the emails, and runs the script above: it sees which pages you open here and when you've signed up.
- A hosting provider — hosts this website, keeps standard, anonymous server logs (like any host does), and runs the plain visitor counter.
- A location lookup service — receives your IP address and sends back the country and city it belongs to. That's all it gets, and all it's for.
- A link-tracking tool — shortens and tracks links I share on YouTube and Instagram, so I can tell which platform is actually working. This only applies to links I post elsewhere, not to anything on this site itself.
I don't sell your information, and I don't hand it to advertisers. There aren't any advertisers here to hand it to.
How to leave
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom — one click, no questions asked. You can also just email contact@heyyuie.com and ask me to delete your information entirely; I'll do it by hand.
How long I keep it
Until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete it. I don't have a use for old, cold email addresses, so I'm not holding onto them for any other reason.
Questions
If any of this is unclear, that's on me, not you — write to contact@heyyuie.com and I'll actually answer.
That's the whole policy. Thanks for reading this far.
